　　阿尼姆•沙伊德尔（Arnim Scheidel）1981年10月出生于奥地利的格拉茨。现为荷兰国际社会科学研究所、巴塞罗那自治大学环境科学与技术研究所高级博士后研究员。他拥有奥地利格拉茨大学生态与生物多样性专业学士学位、克拉根福大学人类与社会生态学硕士学位以及巴塞罗那自治大学生态经济与环境科学专业的博士学位。作为国际化的青年学者，他与欧洲和亚洲多个研究机构有着广泛的合作，目前主要关注农村环境变化动态和农村发展趋势，致力于了解社会资源使用的变化会如何对农村地区产生影响，以及乡村社会行动者如何积极适应这些变化并创造出使其生计和环境更加可持续的新方式。研究涉及欧洲和东南亚的发展政策、小农农业、社区为基础的创新与发展项目、生态农业技术等生态经济学跨学科主题。其研究成果已在《全球环境变化》、《农民研究杂志》、《生态经济》、《土地利用政策》、《地学论坛》、《可持续性科学》等多个顶级国际期刊发表。

　　Short-bio of the speaker:

　　Arnim Scheidel was born in Graz, Austria and currently works as a research fellow at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague (Netherlands) and the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA), Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Biodiversity from the Karl-Franzens University of Graz (Austria), a Master’s degree in Human and Social Ecology from the Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt (Austria), and a PhD in Ecological Economics and Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain. During his education and professional work as a young scholar, he has actively collaborated with several research centers across Europe and Asia, such as for instance the Institute for Environmental studies in Brno (Czech republic), the Vienna Institute of Social Ecology (Austria), the Intergovernmental Mekong Institute (Thailand), the Center for the Study of Agriculture in Cambodia (CEDAC), the Tokushima University in Japan, and others. His main research interests lie in the study of current dynamics of rural environmental change and trends in rural development. He is keen to understand how changes in societal resource uses may transform the countryside, as well as how actors in the countryside adapt to resource use changes and how they actively transform them to make them more sustainable for their livelihoods as well as for the environment. In this context, Arnim has researched, for example the impacts of rural development policies in Europe and Southeast related to agricultural practices, and how they can be improved to enhance benefits for small-farmers; the role of community-based initiatives for rural development, such as for instance community-based saving groups, paddy rice banks, or agroecological rice farming technics such SRI. Theoretically, his work is grounded in the interdisciplinary field of Ecological Economics. His research has been published in top-tier journals, such as for example Global Environmental Change, Journal of Peasant Studies, Ecological Economics, Land Use Policy, Geoforum, Sustainability Science, and others.
